BPAMA & Habitat for Humanityhabitat

More than 100 volunteers spent the day working side-by-side on 10 homes in the Musician’s Village in the Upper Ninth Ward, an area devastated by Hurricane Katrina. The community service day kicked off this year’s annual convention on a great note.

Last year, BPAMA made the commitment to bring this event to New Orleans in an effort to support the rebuilding of this community. “Louisiana and the Gulf Coast is one of the largest energy hubs in North America, and it was important to BPAMA to support a place that is so important to our industry,” stated John Kleine, BPAMA Executive Director.

The day was organized by BPAMA and BP, and sponsored by Bovis Lend Lease/Shop4. In addition to its financial support, Bovis also donated safety equipment to the local Habitat project.

BP branded marketers from across the country were joined by BP staff and representatives from several exhibiting companies. Volunteers did a little of everything, from painting to framing. A number of the volunteers had participated in Habitat programs in their own communities, and several commented that they plan to start a new tradition for their company upon returning home. Goode Oil and Newton Oil decided that this was such a great experience, they want to have their employees participate in a company-sponsored day.

A special thanks to all who participated in the rebuilding of New Orleans!
